From a stone’s throw away in our neighbouring city of Nottingham, UK, Cleveland Bridge UK, a client who are using STRUMIS had been contracted to work on the project to revamp Nottingham station with new tramlines.
The development was part of Nottingham Express Transit (NET) for their second phase of the tramline project for Nottingham City Council. The mission? To extend the network rail 17.5km South and South West of the city.
At 104m long and over 1600 tonnes, the bridges took several weeks to move into position, utilising highly specialist engineering techniques. A total of five new steel bridges were fabricated and erected by Cleveland Bridge, as part of the eagerly awaited new tramline extension for the city.
Prior to commencing the project, Cleveland Bridge had successfully implemented STRUMIS within their business. They were given responsibility for the fabrication, delivery and site assembly/erection of the structural steelwork. Furthermore, they were able to provide expert advice to the principal contractor on erection methods and details for ease of fabrication and build-ability. Work commenced mid 2012 and was successfully completed by January 2014.
A company cultured towards zero defects, Cleveland Bridge UK are known for their reputation of quality management and getting things right first time; every time, on time. With this goal in mind, it was vital the right management information system was fully implemented in order to make the project run more efficiently, improve productivity and contract transparency.
