Mud, Mountains and Miles for a Cause: STRUMIS Takes on Summer 2025

Join the STRUMIS team as they take on Tough Mudder 2025 and Trek26 for Alzheimer’s Research UK. A story of resilience, teamwork and making a difference on and off the trail.

At STRUMIS, we don’t just tackle industry challenges. We take on the outdoors too. This July, our team laced up their trainers and their boots for not one but two physically and mentally demanding events, pushing themselves to the limit in the name of teamwork and a good cause.

Tough Mudder 2025 at Belvoir Castle

Back for round two, Joshua and Nathan returned to the infamous Tough Mudder course at Belvoir Castle and it didn’t disappoint. This year’s 10 mile gauntlet featured 21 brutal obstacles, icy water, and plenty of steep terrain with more mud than we’d care to remember.

It was more than just a fitness challenge. Tough Mudder demands trust, communication and resilience and our IT duo proved they’ve got grit in spades. Whether hauling each other over walls or braving the dreaded Arctic Enema, they powered through every test together. A brilliant effort and a true display of STRUMIS team spirit.

Nathan Colley reflected on the experience:

“Tough Mudder Midlands 2025 was an absolutely amazing experience that pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of. From jumping off a two storey platform into ice filled cold water, to swinging across slippery monkey bars and crawling through thick mud under barbed wire, every obstacle tested my strength, endurance and mindset. It was physically draining and mentally demanding, but every challenge gave me a new reason to keep pushing forward and not give up.”

“The atmosphere was electric, quite literally at times. Obstacles with dangling electric wires to spark you. There was an incredible sense of teamwork throughout the course, with strangers helping each other through the mud and over walls. Looking back, I’m proud of how I tackled each challenge with all effort. Tough Mudder reminded me that I’m stronger than I realise, and that growth only happens when you leave your comfort zone behind and keep going, no matter how tough it gets.”

Trek26 in the North Yorkshire Moors for Alzheimer’s Research UK

Just a week later, the challenge continued. This time in the stunning yet demanding North Yorkshire Moors. Trek26 is a 26 mile hike along one of the UK’s most dramatic coastlines in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Our team including Ashley Horrobin, Joshua, Nathan and the Horrobin family took on steep cliffs, rocky paths and sweeping sea views from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay. The sun was shining, spirits were high, and every step was a stride towards vital research funding. An incredible collective effort for a deeply meaningful cause.

Pushing Limits, Building Bonds

At STRUMIS, we believe challenges outside the office are just as important as those within. These events weren’t just about personal fitness. They were about supporting each other, raising awareness and making a real impact.
